Hi there!

I’m Kala, pronounced like Kayla, but with no y. I’m a freelance makeup and hair artist based in So-Cal.

As a child, I always loved watching my grandma apply her favorite lipstick and that was my first introduction to makeup. I would sneakily spy on where she kept it and put some on when she wasn’t looking. Although my application wasn’t as great as it is now, she never commented on how terrible I can remember it looking but having that lipstick on was the ultimate boost of confidence.

Growing up, I was the go-to gal to glam up friends and family. There was nothing that made me happier than seeing their faces light up when they got to see the mirror for the reveal.

After finishing high school, I attended Makeup Designory in LA to further my education and decided I wanted to go into special effects makeup. Even though it ultimately wasn’t my expertise, I did find a passion for bridal makeup.

I went to get my Cosmetology license and learned how to style hair after years of only wanting to do makeup. Jokes on me, because I love styling hair just as much!

Making people feel beautiful, both inside and out, is why I love this job so much. I am so grateful to be doing my dream job since 2014 - and I can’t imagine ever stopping.
